With an established web site, Google AdSense can get you paid just for hosting their banner or image ads.  There is a lot of scepticism about paid-for-ads on whether or not it's possible to ever hit the minimum payout or whether or not they will pay you when you do.  Google is a globally known name and they will pay you for hosting their advertisements.  What sets Google's AdSense program apart from the competitors is the end-of-the-year payout to all web masters who failed to reach the $100 minimum.  If your site did not generate enough revenue to get paid that year, Google will send you a check for your total earnings anyway.

Google's AdSense program allows you to place related or targeted ads.  With advertisements related to the web page the surfer is on, web visitors are more likely to be interested in what the ad is offering.  Through the custom settings panel you can filter out advertisements from your direct competitors so their ads don't appear on your web site

Payments

Each advertisement is worth a specific amount.  You, as the advertiser, get a percentage of what Google makes per click through. You won't know how much a click will be worth. Sometimes you'll get clicks at $.03 or as high as $1.75.  The main factor is the advertisements that relate to your web site and how competitive they are.

The payout minimum is $100 USD and Google will issue you a company check.  If you fail to reach the $100 minimum by the end of the year, Google will mail you a company check for your current earnings. Note: If you reached the $100 minimum already, Google will not issue you another check at the end of the year if you fail to reach the next payout.

Payments are made within 4 weeks of the end of each month in which your revenue meets the criteria.

Reports

When you are signed into your Google AdSense account, you can view earning reports of any day within the past 2 months.  The earning formats are today, yesterday, last 7 days, this month, last month. Depending on other Google services you are using, your report page may look something similar to the following screen shot.

Page Impressions - The total number of Google AdSense ads that were loaded onto user's screens.

Clicks - The number of times the Google AdSense ads were clicked. Note: sometimes the clicks that are recorded earn $0.00. This is due to Google's web spider coming through and clicking on them to ensure everything is working properly.

Page CTR - The Page Click Through Ratio.  This is the percentage of ad clicks to page impressions or the percentage of users who click your advertisements.

Page eCPM - Page Estimated Cost Per Thousand. This is the estimate your campaign will earn you for each 1,000 unique visitors/ad loads.  This is estimated as there is no way to know exactly what percentage of users will click your ads or how much the ads will be worth.

Earnings - The earnings per report period. If you are viewing last 7 days, this will be the total revenue made in the last week.
